Hi, im looking to upgrade my 350D camera, i have a few lenses, canon 55-250 is, 50mm 1.8, and the kit lens but i feel like the 350D is getting a bit old now and fancy an upgrade.

Im not professional just like to do it as a hobby when i can.

The camera i have been looking at that i think (correct me if im wrong) would be a good upgrade, and around the price ide be wanting to pay is a canon 30D.

The one thing ive started to find annoying is the 350 screen, its not great resolution compined ith being small makes it very hard to see if things are in focus ETC, so bigger screen for after viewing is one thing on my wish list! :)

But please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks
Andy

There wasn't a great deal of difference between the 20D and the 30D, actually that's why the 40D came out earlier than probably intended by canon because most people thought that the 30D added nothing to there range of camera's

So if your looking at the 30D price bracket 2nd hand, also have a look at the 20D as well, still got one as my 2nd body and it was the first camera I bought and still love using it. It definitely a step up from the 350D.

20D body £210 ~
30D body £300 ~

Just keep an eye on what the shutter actuations are, both the 20D and 30D had a shutter life of around 50,000 actuations, so check whether the shutter has been replaced, or you have a lowish count, because a shutter replacement could cost about £150~200

Pay some extra money and get a 40D over the 30D.

I think I'm right in saying that the 30D doesn't have live view or custom modes. 40D is rated at 100,000 shutter actuations, and it is a newer model, so buying a used one it is likely to have less shutters on the clock.

I got a 40D for £370 only 7000 shutters, from a very good reliable ebay shop. I've seen them going for £350 though.

The difference between the 40D and the 30D is far greater than the difference between the 30D and the 20D, and IMO worth paying a small amount extra for.
And I would buy soon if I were you. The new 60D isn't looking popular going by the reactions I've seen on this site to the specs that have been released, so the price of used 40Ds and 50Ds could rise pretty soon.

At least get the 30D and the 40D if budget stretches.

I went from the 350D to two 30D's, not feeling the need to upgrade yet unless I have a windfall and can afford a 1DsIIn or a MarkIIIs.
