I`m looking for a half decent tripod/head setup for landscape and general use (no sports btw) and came across this

http://www.morrisphoto.co.uk/ProductDetails~man~Manfrotto~productID~7467~categoryid~158.html

Would this kit be ok with a 40d/BG/70-200 F2.8 L ?

I may now and then add a 580 flashgun for the odd portrait too.

I came up with this configuration using the manfrotto configurator thingemajig and it seems like its up to the weight but i would appreciate the view of you guys before i go for it.

Cheers

Hi Ade,

The I've got the 190CL tripod and same head, works ok with my 40d, BG and 70-200 2.8 IS.
One thing I would mention is that the BG does get in the way when using the 70-200 with the tripod collar which is a pain in the neck - I can't remember off hand which bit of the head that the grip has issues with - I think it's the locking bit for the release plate....
So sometimes it's eaiser to either loosen the collar and rotate the whole thing or loosen the grip off and re-attach it once the whole thing it locked on to the head.

The only other thing I'd note about the head is that it can be a pain to re-position and I'm considering getting a ball head to make it easier (when I've got the cash to spare...)

I have a very similar setup to that, same head but with a 055ProB. Both very good, but also heavy, having said that with the kit on it it shouldn't matter too much. The head can be a *little* difficult to get exactly right some times but I think it will be a lot easier than a ball head (I have only used a very cheap ball head though so...).

Looks a good price to, I got my 055ProB and head for than much only 6 months ago.

Thanks for the info lads :-)

Ive also looked at the 190xb which would seem to be ok for my height, may plump for that with the above mentioned head as they can be had for quite a good deal. Sure the 190 holds up to 7kg too which is more than enough for me i think.
