Hi All,I am going to the BTCC at Rockingham on the 24th-25th April and wondered if there is any good places for non media to photograph, mainly for head on shots.
Thanks in advance
Steve

Not really. Rockingham is poor from the spectator side of the fence.

The best shot is through the fencing at the Tarzan hairpin, but this will be busy. Sometimes, the marshals let you a couple of feet past the gate, but don't take this for granted.

Otherwise its on top of pit garage which is OK for shots from along the start / finish section of the oval, and as they rejoin the oval from the infield section.

You could have fun from the top of the stands, getting crowd in the shots.

It just means you have to work harder. You will struggle to get a frame filling shot of a car, but it means you can get a lot of the grandstands in the shot - if they're pretty full, and its a nice day, it should mean you can get a nice colourful blurred background.

Whilst cars are in the pitlane you can get a fairly unique top down perspective. The pitwalk is always worthy of some photos and if you hang around the back of the pits you may catch a driver or two.

See you there I'm off to Rockingham too for the BTCC. Was at Thruxton this weekend :)

As already said, there isn't any good spots other than the hairpin, last year we were stood past the end of the fence, got a few shots (see http://www.flickr.com/photos/hotrods/sets/72157622433264990/) until all got shoved back behind the fence by a marshall in the same of safety, seems having a marshalls' jacket or a media bib will protect you from flying car parts :)

Wait until Brands Hatch at the start of May, they are using the GP circuit for that meet, the GP loop has loads of places to stand, all behind low barriers.
