Does such a thing exist?? My macbook battery has just started to warp so it doesn't sit in the casing properly. I've removed it as obviously such deformation is a sign it could be dangerous.

There are a few cheap ones on amazon but they have negative reviews. A real apple one is £100 and they also have lots of negative reviews too.

The above one isn't dirt cheap and appears to come with a 3 year warranty. Has anyone got a battery from them long enough ago to find out whether they're any good?

I'm loathed to spend much money on it as it's nearly 5, relatively unreliable and build quality is crap compared to the ibook I had.

Crap english putting me off the above site. Lots of negative reviews on amazon about the cheapo batteries on there.

Weiss seem to offer one for just under £60. Comes with 2 year guarantee which is longer than I'd expect this macbook to last...

Does anyone know who the OEM was for the originals??

3 year warranty with a company who I am not 100% confident will be around 3 years later when you need help...

That was my conclusion as well...

Well I would honestly opt for genuines when it comes to laptops.

We had a Vaio in the house (when the exploding battery issue was going around) but the battery was third party. During use, the laptop warmed up, popped then exploded setting the chair it was on at the time on fire.

Sony picked up the laptop out of warranty by about 5 years, inspected it and confirmed it was third party. Tried to get in touch with the company since they had provided a 5 year warranty only to find them out of action.

I dont have a problem with third party but since a lot of these places just randomly pop up and give warranties, really no way of knowing how strong they are. The market these days is not as great as what it used to be unless buying from someone who has been around longer.

I've emailed macupgrade that have some third party ones for about £50. They're at least an established mac retailer with a reasonable reputation.

£100+ for a battery is robbery. Apple tvs are only £99. Most of my use of the laptop could be replaced with an apple tv and a cheap tablet for browsing TP and starting arguments :)
