Looking for a program I can use to view Raw files, any suggestions?

Basically just to help with good house keeping some shots needing cleared out.
Have a few and it would take ages to open them up in photoshop.

I tried the microsoft RAW viewer for xp but it did not work so any suggestions would be welcomed, also if it is a FREE program even better.

Free RAW Viewer?

Yes if such a thing exists, basically just want a program that lets me flick through my raw photos at or about full screen and I can bin the shots I dont want.

EIDT: just realised that is in fact a program cheers!

Irfanview, grab the plugins. It views everything :) and its freeware. been using it for years, comes with basic editing (crop, save into whatever format you want). Excellent programme and under 10mb

:) I've used it in the past for the same thing and it was quite good. I think it even lets you flag them, call up all the flagged ones for reviewing again and then you can delete them as a batch. I THINK!!!

superb thanks guys. Also would adobe bridge work for this purpose? I have never used it in my entire time of having photoshop.

if you have phooshop why not use that?

because for some reason you have to open the file up to see it, looking for something similar to the way you can view pictures in windows like film strip.

Not in bridge you shouldn't, not if it's compatable with your raw.

:agree:

Freely available and a very good product for all types of imagery and post production facilities. Probably very amateur comapred to photoshop, but if it's just for CR2's and a bit of playing about, I find it's perfect and quite a polished product.

What's wrong with the stuff that came with your camera i.e.

Canon Digital Photo Professional
or
Canon Zoombrowser

yup, started using bridge works a treat for viewing photos, makes it easier to pick out the keepers and is extremely easy to use. now i can look at my shots and see which ones I want to edit. Before i was just opening them in raw to see what photo is what and it was taking ages.

I bought second hand and the disc that came with it did not have any software on it :'(

fine now though quite happy using bridge and i have photoshop to edit.

I use Microsoft's RAW image viewer and works perfect for me. I'm also using XP...
