good place to get cheap second battery

Tried 7dayshop?

I bought some Energiser branded ones for my 40D and they're fantastic.

My experience here - cheap eBay batteries (and indeed cheap anywhere batteries) don't last the distance. Ones where a company like Duracell or Energizer put their name to it might come out of the same factory in China but there's some (better?) QA going on and they tend to last longer.

Amazon & Play tend to carry them at keen prices (around £10-12 per battery) - buying a totally unbranded one for less is (in my experience) false economy.

Energiser branded ones work I wouldn't trust others.

I think I paid £6 each for the Energisers from 7DS when they were on sale.

As above, I wouldn't buy no-names. Are Sterlingtek still around?

I really struggled with getting Sterlingtek ones for my 400D a few years back, but they have worked faultlessly (there's me putting the kiss of death on them)

the have a website but no mention of international shipping. I've emailed them to ask if they have any UK suppliers.

Hello,

Unfortunately we no longer ship outside the United States and Canada. We do not have any UK suppliers. If you have any questions, please contact us by replying to this email.

Thank you,

Looks like 7dayshop have run down their stock of the Energizer batteries. Picked up a spare for my 20D for £7 last year and wanted one for my 600D but there are now only three listed:(
