I contacted Starbucks about 2 months ago asking if they could donate some coffee for the lads in Afghanistan but never heard back from them, never mind I thought at least I tried.(I've always thought if I dont ask I wont get).
But low and behold I have just received a nice e-mail from them asking for my address as they will send me coffee and tea from head office for the lads and lasses.:clap:
So Rob look forward to some tea, coffee coming your way.

:agree: and  for *bux

I have just read the email sent to Eileen and it seems a lot of the starbucks employees are sending their weekly quota here for distribution to Afghan, this may mean a bloody lorry load  or a few bags and if it is tons of the stuff how can we get it there as 1 bag is 1kg:thinking::help:

2 bags of coffee to a grey plastic bag, very cheap off ebay!! Then await total confusion at both the post office and people handling them when loads of identical parcels go through

Well done to Starbucks though

You need to write another nice email to Parcelforce or one of the other courier companies and see if they will donate their services and ship it foc for you ;)

BFPO to Afghanistan is free anyway!
parcels limited to 2kg though

I think we will just hang on to see how much does arrive first if its only around 10-20kg we will just buy some more of those po boxes that need a degree in physics to assemble but if it is tons of the stuff we may need help:lol:

Dear Mrs Wilkinson

Thank you for contacting Starbucks to request a donation of coffee.

We welcome requests from our customers and appreciate the opportunity to contribute a gesture of goodwill to our customers when they can not come to visit us in our stores.

All of our partners (employees) are entitled to a free bag of whole bean coffee every week. Many donate this coffee to various charitable causes and would be pleased to donate their weekly coffee to this cause. I would be pleased to arrange a collection of coffee from our UK head office which I will post to you. I am also able to include boxes of tea from our Tazo(tm) tea range. Please let me know the best address to post this to.
Once again thank you for contacting Starbucks, we look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Yours sincerely

ooo...I'll donate the majority of this to Padre Mark Christian, as he can make sure it gets all the way out to the various sub-units via the Padre-Mafia - no-one turns down the Padres when they get going!
As he keeps reminding the Brigadier, he works for a 'Higher Authority'...lol

When and if/ it/they arrive I'll make certain to send a letter of thanks back to the Starbucks person you dealt with if you enclose thier details for me...

Just a case of waiting now to see what turns up and when it does I will gladly give you their details .I am just glad I could help to get you all little treats like coffee, tea

they asked for the address to send it to so why dont you just put ARKADY's direct address in afghan to see if they will deliver directly, just put your own adress just incase they wont and it can still be sent to you.

Eileen replied before I got home from work ......so its all set up for coming here and to be honest if it comes here It will only be delayed by 1 day at the most, so really no big deal but if there is lots of the stuff then we will look into having it all sent direct if the MOD will allow it

Its taken around six weeks for starbucks to answer Eileens request so if we ask them to redirect the coffee it could take another six weeks or more so wouldnt it be just as well to let the coffee come here for us to post out as its only taking around 8-10 days for parcels to reach Rob, but we are open to any help to send it out if it does come in in bulk, but we all may be dissapointed and only get a couple of bags or be overwhelmed and get tons so lets see what the postie brings, but if we do need any help then some of the po boxes would be handy or the grey bagsand it would be a great help if they are all pre addressed to rob so we dont have to address them .......but lets wait and see first

Well done BabyTiger, nice work! And a  to Starbucks too!

Well done on getting this sorted out and well done to Starbucks

I'm more than happy to help out if you get loads of it . . . whether that's sorting out some pre-addressed boxes / bags for you or if you're able to get any re-directed to my address.

If you do need help to package and post the coffee. I would be willing to help. Send me a PM if you need a hand, I'm off work at the moment and getting very bored watching trisha all day. Only down in Gunness so not that far away...

I only wanted to help the troops and give them some goodies so will just wait and see what appears but thanks all ,I only did what anyone would do

I'm surprised Starbucks can even give their coffee away :gag: Awful stuff...now Costa, there's nice coffee.

However, it's nice to see big business bothering with someone other than themselves. Let's hope others take notice.

no coffee is nice coffee!!!

Tea however :)

Tea AND Coffee are good at the right time of day:
Start the day with an uber-espresso and end it with a nice cuppa...:D

Civilisation in a cup.
