Having a look at getting a Macro lens and was wondering what sort of focal length do people recommend and what's good and what's rubbish?

From a brief look about and using the search function it looks like 85-105mm is a reasonable size?

Any help will be great. Budget wise anything under £400 and I don't mind second hand probably from a used dealer like MPB Photographic or similar.

I have a Tamron 180 for insect work - butterflies, dragonflies, etc. I also have the Nikon 85 Micro which is near your budget and is a very nice lens to use, producing good results. With macro work, autofocus isn't too important and I normally use the 180 on manual focus.

My sigma 150 is in the classifieds.
For bugs, the longer the better as you can stay further away to not disturb them.

Tamron 90mm f2.8
Sigma 105mm f2.8

Both great, take your pick.
