Hi

I am looking for a macro lens for my Sony A200

I have been looking at the Sigma 50mm 2.8 EX Macro, which seems good for the price.

Have a budget of around £250... hopefully I can get something good for that price..

Sony themselves offer a 30mm f/2.8 macro lens, which looks to be very good for the price (£150ish), and would also double as a good walkaround prime. Only problem might be the very close distance to subject for 1:1.

Also look at the Tamron 90mm macro - more expensive, but good by all accounts.:)

They seem to be doing delivery - just ordered one at £249 for home delivery?

Hmm, let me know if they give you a delivery date, when I looked they were out of stock but had more on order and I didn't want to wait weeks maybe for them to receive them

there is a review of the tamron af 70-300mm lens in octobers 'digital camera' magazine. £130 for a telephoto zoom with macro function seems a good buy

I found the minimum focus distance of 0.9m a bit frustrating for macro work. The tammy 90mm 2.8 is around 0.3m.

I went into my local Jessops yesterday and they've found several of the tammy in-stock and will arrange for it to be shipped to my local store for pick up from them. Hopefully should have one in hand by Wednesday.

Lovely, would really like to see some of the shots taken with the lens
