Good lens choices for a 5D mark iii ??

Hi everyone...

so I picked up my 5d mark iii on Saturday with a canon 35mm f2, canon 50mm f1.4, canon 85mm f1.8, and the canon 135mm L !!! :woot:

Nice set up, the 5D mkIII is on my wish list - enjoy your new purchases.:)

...And I agree with dave, it makes my hobby so much more enjoyable and so much more exciting so well worth the money. But I had to promise hubby that after the flash gun I will not be spending any more money on the camera lol

Hmmmm, I've heard that one before from my wife ...:D

I don't think he believes a word I say anymore lol

Looking forward to show off some of my photos soon and I will be needing a lot critique as im still learning a lot !!! :)

all this for me, depends upon your budget.
I've recently bought a 2nd hand 5Dii and really like it but I need lenses that work with my 7D and FF camera so the Ef-S has to go.
Having already owned some EF lenses my choices are fairly clear.
The 50mm 1.4 is lovely on the 5Dii. and the 70-200mm OS Sigma is pin sharp in places. really pleased with that. Not up to the standards of the Canon L maybe but pretty good for the money/performance balance that I have to think about.
For wide I'll go with the tamron. My 17-55 IS canon has to go, so this will replace it I think.
if I had an unlimited budget I'd do things differently but I haven't the cash.
If 5D FF lenses are too expensive or heavy and you just need something to walk about with, the 28-105 USM (old lens now) is not L, but light and only £100 2nd hand.
I loved it back when I had a 350D and for just walking about and for personal snap shots I'm thinking about getting another copy. I wouldn't take it to a wedding but for cost and convenience it's a bargain I think.
Sometimes what you want is the shot, not the ultimate in pixel sharpness at 100% crops.

Do you mean the 28-135 usm? There was never a non L 24-105 IIRC.

He said 28-105, not 24-105 ;-)

The 28-105 USM MKIII was my first "real" zoom lens after the kit lens and its a fantastic lens for the money. I dont think ive ever read a bad thing about this lens. I replaced mine with the 24-105L and was quite disappointed that i didnt see better IQ considering the cost of the L lens.

Ah my bad, didn't read it properly!

Edited...as above, didn't see the responses.
slightly different lens but very light, perfect for FF and travel I hope.
not sure you can get mega travel zooms on an EF mount without spending 1000's.
the mk1 is old, but decent, the mk2 is newer and either made in taiwan or japan so I read.
but for the money, any decent mk2 will do me just fine :)

Bit late now but for my 5d mk3 I use the 24-105 most of the time, I. You don't need f2.8 as its only one stop or double the ISP and the camera is superb at low light. (plus it's a lot lighter lens than the 24-70).
On the full frame camera its a perfect all round range. On the crop it was just a little long at the 24mm.

To compliment that I have the samyang 14mm, fully manual but very easy to use. Slightly soft in the corners but there is a profile for lightroom to correct the distortion.

I'm currently travelling with there and the 70-200 f2.&is, plus the 2x convertor if I need to up the range, leaving the 100-400 behind to save weight. Don't forget with latest firmware the 5d mk3 will autofocus at f8.
