So I'm a new photographer and I've not yet brought myself a laptop to edit on yet because that's a quite big investment for me and I don't really want to be paying for any subscriptions just yet because I don't edit that many photos at the moment. Does anyone have any good recommendations for any free editing software for my phone? (I'm on Android as well if that helps)

I agree with Gav. Snapseed is the best and there are hundreds of tutorials on YouTube. It doesn't have some advanced features like pano stitching or HDR. Also, it doesn't do asset management, so if you want to title, star rate, or add other information to your photo you're better off with Lightroom for mobile which is a capable enough editor but which costs money to use for anything advanced.

When I'm out and about and want to process and upload photos, I'll do the processing in Snapseed then import the results into Lightroom for adding EXIF information, before a final export into my Photos albums.

You can use most of the features of Lightroom on your phone without a subscription. There's a few things missing, such as Raw editing and masking, but almost everything else can be used for free. If you get into it properly it's then easy to convert to the full package in the future.

Snapseed is great, and I also like PicsArt for funny editing with effects, stickers and stuff.

Agreed on Snapseed.

If you use a Windows PC you can run Snapseed by installing an emulator called BlueStacks X. Download your cell phone pics and edit them on you PC.

Snapseed also runs on Mac but I don't know the install routine.

Snapseed is free, great and available on both android and apple iphones.
