It's a nice camera Dod, but you can but a good Canon F1 or a Nikon F3 for a lot less. I suppose it's the rarity, and condition which will appeal to collectors.
 
They used to cost a fortune when new and haven't been made since the late 80s IIRC, so a mint one will be rare. I wonder who bought such a camera and only put 3 films through it? I had an OM2 for a while and they had great 'feel'.
 
Lovely cameras. My second SLR was an OM-1. I only went Canon as Olympus didn't have a decent AF solution in the late 90s.

Same here, I had an OM4, not the Ti, too expensive for me, and an OM2N. Absolutely loved the 75-150 F4, great lens.
 
Im just looking (Literally just looking for the moment) at medium format film cameras and im suprised at how cheap they are.
 
I have a Mamiya 645, a couple of lenses and other bits and bobs but would rather have the camera than sell it as it still takes great shots. I was even considering flying with it but not sure what film stock to use.
All bought 2nd hand about a decade ago when a pro upgraded.
 
That was a nice camera and that looks like a mint specimen so I'm not surprised the bidding is keen.

The results would be stunning and I don't care how good people like to say digi photography is (and it is), it has nothing that compares with getting a tranny back from the lab, sticking it on the lightbox and seeing you've totally nailed it. :1st:

An elusive feeling if there ever was one but that's what makes special every time.

Well worth the extra effort and cost.

Which makes me wonder..... why don't I do it more often. :thinking: :cuckoo:

Perhaps if some trailblazer around here lead the way................:lol:

I kinda got lucky. I got two bodies (one failed irreparably a few years back) , two lenses and various bits and bobs for about a weeks wage. He simply wanted rid.
Let me know if you ever want a shot of it Dod.
 
£397 for an OM-4??? Bloke's having a laugh - you can pick up an FM2n for £150!!!

The auction started at about £50 - people will mid according to how much it is worth to them. I suppose if a couple of people really want one, they'll bid high because it's a one-off.

Yeah, a basic MF setup can be had for such reasonable money... Definitely next on my shopping list!
