Hello. Bulletproof Tiger here. And yes that is my real name.

Got my DSLR last year but have decided to join this forum as the damn thing still confuses me a little. I'm going on a trip to the states in 3 weeks and i need some tips on good settings for just taking as many photos as i can of everywhere i go.
 
The settings in manual will change for every single area you visit. I would spend some time reading and playing with the settings before you leave and maybe look at some tutorial videos. If you are still finding it confusing then maybe look at some of the preset modes as most cameras out there will be more than able to give you great shots without you doing much more than pointing and shooting.

Looking in the tutorial section should start you on your way. Hope that helps, and welcome to tp. :)
