Yep another newbie, got nudged here from another forum (mostly american so didn't understand me when I asked about red snapper gear 
)
I got my first SLR about 9 months ago, a Canon 400D with kit 18-55 and 75-300, recently bought a Sigma 17-70 for it, I also use an old Pentax 100mm f/4 manual lens for macro and (very) amateur portrait stuff (its a really nice lens and 6 years older than me!!!) and I have recently discovered how much I like macro work so I made myself a little rig with a cheap and very cheerful YN-460 flash, a £5 28mm f/2.8 manual lens- reversed, and a set of £3 extension tubes to take magnification from around 1:1 to 4.5:1. Now I just have lots and lots of practice to do!!!!!
