Good Cover Songs

You think that is better than the original?

Perhaps I do for various reasons. The fact is though the OP asked " Anyway, do you have a favourite cover version you THINK beats the original? Does not mean to say that anybody is right or wrong, well unless we all have to comply with what you think is best, but that ain`t gonna happen is it? ;)

Personally, no one does any Led Zeppelin song (or their 'covers') better than Led Zeppelin. Not even D'yer Maker ;)

But that is just your opinion as a fan no doubt. I could have said nothing can ever be better than an any original, but I know I could be proved wrong.Like I say it`s only opinions anyhow, and we all know how well they go down on this forum :D

Love this version of "along the watch tower"....I wonder why;)

Just to lighten things up, this should make you smile:
...and of course... Gangnam!

Sometimes artists revisit their own originals in the studio. Not always a good idea...

I seem to remember The Stones did It's Only Rock and Roll? Can't improve on that original, in my opinion. Going back to Diamond -- he had a few wishy-washy efforts with I'm A Believer. The Pretty Things did a bit of anniversary repackaging as The XPTs, though some of that I quite like to be honest.

And I'm guessing few here will want to think about Band Aid, and Quo in the nude! :)

I rather like Hayseed Dixie's versions of Fat Bottomed Girls and Walk This Way. Not sure if I prefer them to the original versions but do like the covers!

This knocks spots off the original:

This one is not better than the original, but really good nonetheless (and appropriate that this band should finally cover this song)

can think of a couple of reasons (y)

"Sorrow" is a song first recorded by The McCoys.
It became a big hit in the United Kingdom in a version by The Merseys, reaching number 4 in the UK charts on 28 April 1966.
A version by David Bowie was also a hit in 1973.

Original, the writer, Stan Jones, recorded it in 1948. In February 1949, Burl Ives,
countless others have recorded it since.

Further to my post #50, I'd like to add
IIRC, the original writer of the tune (are instrumentals allowed in a "song" thread? ;)) is the father of a couple of the band that covered it here.
