All,

I'm looking to get into a new book. None of the books I have at the moment are catching my attention.

I'd like to read a book about the Cold War or Falklands "war".

Has anyone ever read a book on these subjects that they would recommend?

There are loads of good reads about the Falklands

Try "The Fight For The Malvinas" by Martin Middlebrook, a different look on the conflict, told from the Argentinian point of view.

"Excursion To Hell" and "Two Sides of War" by Vince Bramley..

" Forgotten Voices of The Falkland War" Hugh McManners...

"Sea Harrier Over The Falklands" CDR Sharkey Ward..

"Doctor For Fiend Or Foe" Rick Jolly

" No Picnic" Julian Thomson

"100 Days" Sandy Woodward

All really good reads with some different points of view..

The Forgotten Voices of The Falklands War is a superb book , the whole series of these books are from interviews with former service personnel and civilians and give a more personal side of their experience. If you enjoy military history these are worth a look, the ones based on the Great War and Second World War are from tapes that the Imperial War Museum had which were transcribed into the books. If you read these you'll be hooked!

"One minute to midnight: Kennedy, Krushchev and Castro on the brink of nuclear war" By Michael Dobbs.

As the title suggests is all about the Cuban missile crisis and a very good read.

"The Atlantic and its enemies: A history of the Cold War" By Norman Stone

Read both of the above and can recommend both.

Ive got another at home which concentrates on Britians plans if Nuclear war ever erupted. Can't for the life of me remember it's name though but it's a good read.

Remembered it now
"The Secret State. Preparing for the worst 1945-2010" By Peter Hennessy

If you want something a little different, I strongly recommend reading 'Vulcan 607' by Rowland White.

Incredible story.
