I know good and cheap don't usually go together, but have been asked by my son to find a decent electric cable vac for use in the home for under £100. Suggestions please.
If he has space for it any of the wet and dry vacuums will be useful, if not I have a Morphy Richards modular thing that can be used in various configurations.
Not the quietest, but the Titan range from Screwfix are great (wet / dry) - I've one for the car and it's suction power is excellent and much better than our household hoover...
Yet another vote for Henry. Over the years I've spent hundreds on Hoovers,Electrolux, Vacs, Dysons and even Japanese vaccuums but having seen Henry used on cruise ships and in hotels we bought one four years ago and it's been the best we've ever had.

I got one of those last year and good suction plus a blow function which is quite handy but damn it's loud as they come! Gave it away and got another Henry, although reduced power now unlike the one at home which seems to run forever.
