good article on summer / outdoor natural and artificial lighting

Thanks for posting that - don't think there's anything groundbreaking there, but pulls a number of ideas together very well.
 
Nice article... but don't fall into the trap that Getty, istock and the like are setting. These agencies have such a narrow view of what a photograph should look like and have such a universal influence in terms of media usage that we are constantly bombarded with the "stock" look. I shot stock for a few years and found it to be quite restrictive to my creativity.

very very good post. There is certainly a "look" that has been crafted in recent times, and it's a bit too...fake. I'm very guilty of it in some of my commercial work.

Ive done the same thing, I do quite like some of the 'trends' I suppose you would call them and it always wows a client to give them the look they are seeing in the commercial/fashion world, but I try to infuse my own thing as much as possible. I think developing your own style is one of the hardest things for a photographer as its so easy to be influenced by what others are doing.
