I would like to say a big hello to everyone! I have been watching the forum for quite a while now, in awe of some of your shots too!

I am looking to get into photography asap really, I have always appreciated a good picture and have just been taking a few shots and seeing what I can come up with recently, it's fair to say, the bug has bitten me!

I don't have much in the way of equipment, and never owned a DSLR. I have been making good use out of my Sony HX9 point and shoot, for a compact, it isn't half bad! I got this due to me working for Sony at the time.

Now really looking to get into serious photography, looking at getting myself a decent DSLR and full kit, doesn't have to be top of the range/price list, I think that its mainly down to the person using the camera.

Any tips on the best buy for myself would be great, I am going to be taking shots of landscape, macro and weddings etc..

Already looking at the Canon 600d and the Sony A65 (still loyal to Sony).

once bitten by the Photography Bug, youre forever doomed, expensive and adicitve, but hey dont let me put you off and welcome to the forum

Les :D

Thank you for the welcome, still debating which camera to purchase, I guess I am just going to have to get out there and try them out. I might be able to get a bit of a deal on the Sony A77.

Would this be a decent shout if I were able to get one on the cheap??

Good afternoon to you too Dom
and welcome aboard

Depends how cheap- Im shooting with a Sony a700 and I'm just about to upgrade to the a77 - Im liking the 24 Mega Pixels which is twice the amount Im getting with the a700 which has only 12 Mega Pixels

so yes the a77 cuts the mustard for me- as I have several lenses etc that would suit it lol
