Golfers elbow

Oh, that sound horrid - luckily mines very minor, just a dull ache most of the time or a sharp (but tolerable) pain under certain circumstances like lifting a heavy bag onto a desk.

The only problem with going OTC rather than prescription is that you're restricted as to how many tablets you can buy at a time. I'm supposed to take (and do) 6 paracetamol every day and at 60p/32, it's cheaper to buy them at Sainsbury's than to get them prescribed (actually, I get free prescriptions but I don't want to burden the NHS with the cost) but I can only buy a couple of boxes at a time. Luckily, we're at Sainsbury's a couple of times per week so can keep stocks up by both getting the maximum allowance each visit. Not sure if it's possible to get a letter from a doctor to get more per visit - being otherwise healthy, I don't want to take up an appointment just for that, although I might ask the nurse when I go in for a quick consultation next week.

Aye, I bumped into that once - I had some asprin, paracetamol and ibuprofen as I was low at home and got refused, I guess you could go to another shop or something. Still better than someone topping themselves.

True, but ODing on paracetamol isn't a nice way to do it - rather than slipping away in a pain free haze, it can be a lingering death from liver failure.

Hi

I once had both Tennis and Golfers elbow at the same time in the same elbow, Doctor gave me some cortisone injections that to be honest did very little to help, he then sent me for Physiotherapy and they gave me some stretching exercises and that sorted the problem out quite quickly.

All good news
I'm glad you are (almost) sorted

A little anecdote, My brother went to the Dr's some years ago,
with one or the other, "elbow" and was given a cortisone injection.
It was great for years, then it re-occurred so he went back to the Dr's and the GP said, I'll give you a cortisone injection, that'll sort it.
My brother said, sod that, I had one years ago, and it was f*****g painful!

The Dr replied but it doesn't hurt if its done correctly, who did the last one?
With a satisfied smirk, my brother replied you did!

When I had mine - the actual injections didn't hurt - the pain came immediately afterwards and lasted for some days !!

Why is it that the local anaesthetic injection is the most painful part of dental work?

My invoice can be paid in Pints by the way , the acupuncture pen is good & it was only because it was used on me at the time of my problem buy a just retired head of Physio ( Hospital) I thought of
suggesting it. My elbows healed now it just the rest of me :jawdrop: thats up the :muted: :schtum:

Oo, just thought I'd mention - I tried that Acupad thing last night and apart from one go which made me jump, whinge and run off (it sent sort of pain but not down my arm) it worked really well, only an ache since I applied it directly to the muscle that was hurting.

Cheers that was a really good tip.

:-) it's a strange feeling but if your feeling it right down your arm, then move to another point until that does the same, it means that there is no resistance and the muscles are healing, from memory I used to do about 5/6 points around the area.

Had the same thing last year... Went after 6 months or so... If stay away from Chiro's etc as it's just quak'ry and can be dangerous (https://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/a-cure-for-chiropractic-2/)

If worried see your GP and get a proper referal to the appropriate specialist.
Lol brilliant website and credentials to "attack" chiropractors. The pot has just called the kettle black. You don't honestly take that website for gospel do you?

No, but can you really trust a "medical profession" who believe they can cure anything by manipulating the spine?

It's quackery, plain and simple.

The old addage proves true, "What do you call alternative medicine that works? Medicine."

Yep its all based on herbs and potions, even the panacea penicillin ;)
Just some people prefer to go with the "pure" version ;)
