Going to Silverprint, What chemicals to buy?

I just wanted to add that my first home development went very nice and not a single hitch to report.

To be fair I have done a 100 devs in a darkroom before but this was a first.
Awesome :D :D

I will post some results here tomorrow.

edit/ could anyone estimate how many 35 mm rolls I can get out of a 1+4 fixer mix of 300 ml? I don't have indicator strips so would be useful to keep a track of things.

I usually get 5-6 rolls out of mine. You can always use the leader you cut off. Stick it in a little bit of the fixer and see how long it takes to clear. Then double that time for the actual fixing.

Ok so scanned in some shots yesterday and there ruined from using a squeezge :(
I thought in 2013, those would work properly.

Is there a trick to using them? I'm surprised they would be included in the kit as tbh I've never had any success with them.

The trick is to never use them, they cause more damage than cleaning the drying marks off later.

I tend to run the negs through my fingers carefully to remove the large drops of water then hang dry them. Once they have driued i give them a wipe with a microfibre cloth and some negative cleaner (basically isopropyl alcohol) which doesn't damage the emulsion.

Oh dear what a shame....tbh I've never tried using a squeezgie for fear of this exact reason, instead always ran film between two wet fingers...index and middle. Just one clean swipe and job done.

Perhaps that will be a better idea for you next time....sadly it doesn't recover this film for you.

Syringe actually works fine, just needs a little more strength employed. I usually squirt it into the measuring cylinder, make it up to 500mls and then stir with a glass rod (actually a glass cocktail stirrer with an elephant on top) and it all works out quite well!

Elephant eh...isn't that a requirement for Spring Treasure Hunt...

If you absolutely must use a squeegy then make sure it's clean and that you soak it in hot water to soften the blades before use. I admit to using one on Tri-X without causing any damage but when I tried it on Fomapan, it took the emulsion off in great dollops.

I found that this leaves streak marks though which are also pretty annoying.

I'm not worrying about ruining this roll, it was only a test after all tbh

I must be pretty lucky with the water here, using either my fingers or a squeegee leaves massive great streaks, but if I just leave them to dry, they come out much better.

Same here, a quick dunk in Kodak Photo-flo after washing and then hang up to dry without using fingers or squeegee and never had a drying mark.

I just wanted to add that my second roll was more of success, I didn't bother with the squeezge or my fingers and it didn't leave streak marks behind.

What do people reccomend for reducing dust on the film?
