going to jessops, what should i look at

f1.8 gives you a very narrow depth of field - at 5 metres its about 20cm deep.

EDIT Sorry - i'm an idiot - 2, not 5 metres!
 
Just have come back from jessops,

1. I am not going to get a battery grip as i have small hands and i found it hard to hold it and it was uncomfortable.

2. I like the sigma 105mm macro, any reviews on this lens. will it work well if i upgrade the body.

3. I tried out the 17-85mm lens, not two impressed very fast focusing, but i am more intrested in the 2.8 sigma

vy knowledgeable and helpful although very expensive
 
You could look at the Tamron 17-50 f2.8, very well regarded fast sharp lens. retails around the £250 mark.

isn't that lens isn't meant to be very heavy
