I'm going to America next week, anything worth buying over there (i.e becuase its alot cheaper), camera-gear or other stuff?

Last time I went it was WELL worthwhile as it was $2 to £1, no so good at present though.

America isn't the bargain paradise that it used to be. You can get camera stuff here for more or less the same price online, so taking in to account any warranty issues and potential duty/vat payments [and note the "potential"], then unless you find a sale or clearance bargain there's not much to be had. That's not to say that you shouldn't look anyway and buy something you fancy or haven't seen over here on impulse. That's the fun of being on holiday.

As for other stuff, I love going in to the DIY warehouses - Home Depot, Lowes etc. Twice the size or more than our own and I usually pick up all manner of odds and ends and knick knacks. Plus it's interesting looking at the bigger household and gardening stuff. The tools/diy section of Sears is interesting. Good quality tools at a good price - Craftsman, plus all manner of useful bits. Also have a look at the bigger stuff - TVs, kitchen appliances etc, and see what they pay compared to us.

I always find bits and pieces in Walmart, K Mart and Target as well. Nothing essential but things that "come in useful", and cheap.

London Bridge....................

I was in the states 18 months ago prices
were much the same as they are hear.

Just looking at the BH Photo website, things are a tad more expensive than they seem to be here right now...

It certainly does. I get a useful baggage allowance but I still have one of those luggage weighing things with me to take it up to the limit.

I got one as well just for such occassions as our bathroom scales have a mind of their own - plus if we took them then our allowance would be sky high.... Must be the best couple of quid I've spent so far for our trip to Florida

I've got 46kg worth of hold allowance for a 5 day trip so should be ok :)

London Bridge comment cracked me up, such a funny story.

Ok didn't think much would be on offer, maybe some clothes but then again they are probably the same too now.

I don't really need to spend the money anyway so thanks for confirming my thoughts.
