Godox X1N and SB800

I have started to consider picking up some Godox X1N transmitters and receivers as a step towards integrating my lighting kit (Currently a mix of Elinchrom and SB800 lights) but I'm really struggling to find compatibility and usage instructions for the X1N and SB800, including some spanish forum results that suggest the SB800 doesn't play well...

Anyone out there got any experience with this combo that can report back on it ?
 
The Nikon SB800 & 600 do not work well with theGodox X1N - you need the latest Nikon speedlights to work with them.
 
Well that's a pain in the crotch given that I was looking at Godox kit to *save* money. Do you have personal experience with the X1N and SB800 ? I know the triggers have upgradable firmware, but I've no idea if they're actually using that to address such issues.
 
I have an SB600 and although it sort of works - set the speedlight to TTL mode and trigger in manual but lighting is inconsistent. It certainly doesn't work as well as the YouTube video shows with the later 700 series speedlights.
