I currently have a set of Godox DE-300's, which I am triggering using some old Pixel King triggers via the 3.5mm jack.

This works, but it would be nice to be able to remotely adjust the power and turn the modelling lights on and off.

Receiver wise, the choice is fairly simple on the XTR-16's - it's not worth saving a bit to get the older FTR-16 units.

The question is which trigger?

The X1T or the XT-16?
(They don't currently have an XT-32 in Sony variant, as far as I know)

The X1T certainly looks to be the more complete unit when used with Godox flashguns, AD-200/360/600 etc, but it's not clear (to me, at least) from the on-line manual if it will actually do what I want with my more basic DE-300's
It looks like it will control power, and (with multiple receivers) allow me to do so individually - and it looks to be the option if I want to expand to get some Godox flashguns as well.
What I can't see is if it will control the modelling light - which is something I do want to be able to do
Does anyone know?

The ct16 will do, but if you're definitely getting flashguns, the x1t.

Though for the cost, it's not that big a deal.

Currently my main camera is my Sony A900, which uses the old Minolta iISO shoe - so my current flashguns have that fitting (and my Pixel Kings give me TTL with them).

However, I am thinking of switching one of my A900's to an A99 sometime over the next 12 month (I'd prefer the A99ii, but that's getting expensive!), which would mean new flashguns as that has he MIS shoe (I'm happy to use an adaptor for a relatively lightweight trigger in a studio, less so for a flashgun when out and about).

I think it sounds like I should get the XT16 as my 'studio' trigger, and if I later get Flashguns switch to the XT1.

As a related question - if I did eventually end up with BOTH, if I set BOTH triggers to the same channels, as I understand it I could then use the XT16 'off camera' to do things like switch the modelling light on and off, and test fire for use with a light meter, while keeping the XT1 on camera to trigger when I took a shot
Does that sound right?

Thanks,

part of me wants to save the cash given that I can already trigger the units using my existing Pixel Kings, but I suspect the ability to remotely adjust the settings will soon convince me the the extra expense was worth it!
