Yes
I received a Godox Ving 860II for my Sony A7RIII but cannot get it to goo to TTL mode or stay there. I've watched YouTube vids and googled it but there's no where that shows how to switch to TTL mode, or it appears that I cannot get it to go into this mode.

The display shows in the top left hand corner:

a lightning bolt then CTRL+M zoom then the zoom amount (24mm)

I've tried combinations of using the mode button with the Z button on the lower right hand side with no luck. At the moment every shot is way over exposed.

Is there anyone with a similar unit who can help please?

I don’t have Sony but on my Fuji you set HSS in the camera settings not the flash.

I think I've figured it out -- on the camera I have to set wireless flash (WL) to OFF. I've been using wireless flash as ON for off camera shoots and in this mode it won't work in TTL. It seems to be ok now.

Yes that is correct

On Sony the flash is automaticly entering HSS when the shutter speed exceeds the sync speed

I just have to remember when using OCF to set it back to wireless ;)

It's a pity the camera cannot detect the Godox (or any flash) in the hotshot and work in TTLl without the need to go into the settings.

Erm no I don't think so. My A6000 is set to "off" all the time, the godox system works regardless, on Camera or off via X1 trigger.
