God damned public transport

So, on the way home from a gig in London yesterday (due in at 12:20am) the train got stuck outside one of the stations due to a track problem. They managed to get the engineer out from a town 20 minutes away, fix the track and get it all done in 40 minutes. I was quite impressed, the operator was very apologetic and kept everyone updated as to what was happening.

The fact I couldn't get a lift home because my mates refused to wait around for an unexpected period of time while the train was being fixed, I couldn't get a taxi and I had to walk home at 1 o'clock in the morning (a 2 hour walk) was not cool though. It wouldn't have been so bad if it was mid-day but it was a nightmare.

I bought a car, unfortunately it's a helluva lot cheaper to get the train than pay for parking, congestion charge, petrol, etc.

I suggest you buy a Meercat!


It will help you in three ways.

1. It will be a friend.

2. It can look out for approaching cars.

3. When aforementioned cars approach, a certain percentage of the drivers will be overcome with curiousity and will likely stop and question you about the Meercat. Cordial relations having been established, the driver(s) are quite likely to offer you a lift!

I had that happen to me twice when I was younger both times the train company paid for my transport home as I'd missed the last bus.
