God damm you facebook

There's a lot worse things that can happen in life.

lets face it every time facebook change something suddenly the previous view was the best and the new one is horrible, then x months down the line the one that was previously the horrible one is suddenly the best and the new one sucks... repeat to fade.

does anyone really care?

It depends on what they do. Sometimes things get changed back later. Timeline is poor as if someone writes on your wall it doesn't appear in your news feed. Previously it did. That's a dumb change.

Those stupid game related posts seem to be impossible to get rid of. Lost count of the number times I've clicked on 'hide all game stories' for someone and it just carries on posting them. Even hide them for a particular game and it still posts the bloody things.

This. :bonk:

I feel like I'm the only person that opted into timeline as a choice.. I think it looks pretty sleek and like that you can customise a bit more with a cover photo. If you don't like it, close your account and go back to emailing or using the phone to stay in touch.

Exactly what I did. Got rid of a lot of dead wood as well :)

I get fed up when my family say they will send me a message on facebook. They have had my mobile and landline number for years, just wondering why they can't simply give me a ring

Because a phone aint a phone no more, its many things but a phone it is not. plus its just not cricket phoning someone when you can mail them instead.

Must admit though, wish I could just mail me mam, get a sore ear with all the babble she spouts. be much easier to speed read through a mail:D

spike

P.S I do love me mam, the above is tongue in cheek, before I get jumped on from a very high ledge:love:

Facebook is just an extension of what email and text messaging created - a virtual world where we have lost the art of the spoken word when communicating.

Yes they have their plus points but sometimes I feel all these methods are a weak reason not to converse with other people.

He says on an Internet forum

I deleted my Facebook account last year knowing that it would come to this.

In order to stay relevant, Facebook needs to keep evolving, or it'll end up like Myspace. Same thing happened with Firefox. It used to be awesome, but they couldn't leave it along, and started bloating it with stupid features.

The necessity to evolve doesn't mean each evolution will be of any value.

Plus Facebook was **** anyway.

I dunno, my smartphone spends so much time on charge its a bloody landline

i was tricked into getting a timeline added. i didnt deliberatly chose it, i wanted to read a news article someone else had read and i had to click on a confirmation button next thing i know everything changed. wish i took the blue pill now

I'm not at all happy with timeline but complaining won't stop it becoming a mainstay.

Fully agree, my mates all seem to sit with their heads down and playing on their phones and on facebook. Life is so different these days.

Generally, if you complain about something, it'll change if there's enough doing it.

The opposite is actually true. It'll stay if nobody complains.

Research shows that almost half of facebook users oppose timeline. It's well known and documented on the interwebs... facebook must know that a large proportion of its user base doesn't welcome the change.

They don't care what users think about timeline though and they won't change it. It's become a simple profit tool, not something for the benefit of the users, and the introduction of timeline helps apps gain more publicity and hence profits.

Users of sites like facebook are not the customer; they are the product.

There is an app on google chrome that gets rid of facebook timeline, use chrome as your browser, download the app and you will never see timeline again, even friends who have it will appear as normal to you.

Interesting... Must look into. Where there's a will there's a way!

Never really understood why people get so upset about timeline......exactly how much time do you spend looking at your own page ????

timeline is a pain in the rear! you try to scroll down to a couple of hours ago and it jumps back 3 months, then you try to scroll back up again and it jumps all over the place, its useless. thankfully i have still avoided it on my on page but it is on a number of others including group pages which i find most annoying.

Been told if you use chrome you can revert back to the old facebook,I've not tried so i can't confirm.

I second this I only use it to check what I posted the day after the night I drank a bit much :)

Never had that and been using timeline since the opt in

Yawn...honestly it's only facebook  it's not the end of the world and they'll change it again in 6 months  then everyone will have something new to moan about

I have absolutely no idea what you all are talking about ! :D

 Glad I'm not the only one, quite frankly my dear I don't give a damn.
:p:D

You're actually quite wrong about this.

Facebook will have invested millions of dollars and thousands of man hours in the development of this new feature, and it would be foolish, imprudent, and financially sel-destructive to instantly remove it based on complaints. If over half oppose it, then just under half are either indifferent, or in support of it.

This is much like the BMW's of the mid-2000s that were almost universally despised for their garish Dame Edna looks. They didn't immediately remove them from production, they finished the run, and if you look at their latest models, they still sport all of the initial traits of their lowly origin, just in a more evolved and refined package.

That is what will happen with timeline.

I'm not a supporter of Facebook, so please don't mistake me for one, I just support not having the facts even less.

What gets me is when you see a couple having a conversation on Facebook - when they are clearly in the same room! What's that all about?!

Don't really understand your post or why you say mine was wrong... Condensed version of what I said boils down to

Lots of people don't like timeline
FB won't change it regardless as it wouldn't be financially viable
The people who use it have no control + are just pawns on the chessboard

When you boil it down we are actually agreeing with each other.

I must say I'm not a huge fan of FB, but I do have an account purely so I can see my more attractive female friends in their bikinis...

That said, my only issue with Timeline is how much it slows down the already slow app on my iPhone. The app is what they really need to sort out.

Me too :-D

:plusone: And my other half always charges here phone near the kettle. So I often txt her to make a cuppa which works most of the time:thumbs:
