Nikon produced several lenses in tropical grey at one time also stating it was in regards to keeping the temperature down, as an aside a few years ago one of my mates repainted from white to dark blue the hull on his clinker built yacht, during a long hot spell the wood shrunk so much it almost sank, it's white again now lol
 
Although your name states you are a doctor the continued insistance to use mumbo jumbo yourself whilst trying to elaborate that other posters or manufacturers are being theoretical comes across as you possibly being in deeper than you can cope with! Are you a novice photographer Dr O?
 
and another thing - you often ask whether theory put forward by other posters is tried and tested and if this is lab based etc.......

I reckon its much more likely that you are unemployed, a desk jockey with some spare time or someone who works unsociable hours in a supermarket or McDonalds and is looking for something to do until your next boring shift!!!

Your a fool to believe that they put the White paint on the big lenses due to the larger surface area and amount of glass involved these lenses are far superior to nikons junk believe me fanboi real pros buy canon for a reason they are far superior

You are an idiot these guys spend years researching this and you dismiss it you haven't got a clue son nikon would love to paint there's White but that would be a patent infringement and they couldn't do it that's why you are left with under-performing lenses in extreme heat small boy

I never claimed I wasn't an idiot but at least I'm not an American one:lol:

I am not dismissing it if you could show me the evidence - genuinely interested- you mentioned it was because of AF yet Canon don't mention that. You would have thought that to know there was a problem there must have been some research to prove it. If it wasn't just a strategic makreting decision that is;)

I think you'll find Dean has handled plenty of Canon lenses having spent time in both camps.

Thankfully for me Nikon paint them black still. I'm happy with the quality they give me and yes I have used expensive Canon lenses.

Well as interesting as it was watching that little spat (and some of the moronic 'mine's better than yours' replies) it was a tad disappointing to see no updated D700. I was hoping there'd be an influx of people looking to sell their old ones and I could pick up a bargain :D.
 
When they release a new camera will mine get worse? No. Good.

It was a little practical joke amongst friends ....I have it on good authority that Dr O's reaction was priceless in person!!! If u had seen it you might doubt his sanity!!!
But yes he wasn't actually arguing with himself (this time!).
Anyway I don't know enough about wedding photography to start a thread on that....but if you are needing to liven up threads at any time all you need to do is point your bat signals to the skyline of gotham city and I will find you.......

This has been a publicity own goal for Nikon imho though. They could have leaked information to dampen expectation, rather than let it feel like a huge let down, maybe not month's in advance, because you want the potential upgraders to be still waiting around in expectation, but a few days before could have averted the anticlimax.

Hopefully they have delayed new DSLR's to take into account what Sony have brought to the market. I wouldn't put money on what they will announce, and when though. :shrug: :lol:
 
Theres a good chance that both Nikon and Canon have had their new DSLR releases delayed by the events in japan
