Hi,
I'm a beginner photographer interested in studio portraits, I've found this image online (link attached) which has a pretty glowing yet sharp effect. Though the lighting helps, I'm sure some retouching is done to get the desired effect.
I was wondering if anyone can help me know more about thus effect (or lighting techniques)

there is an app but dont ask me what it does I dont use a phone for internet just for text an phone calls, I live in the dark ages where all that business goes on LOL

That effect is a combination of the lighting used (looks like maybe a beauty dish at a bit of a distance away from them), which gave them the hard but still soft-ish light, and the post processing, which there seems to have been some skin smoothing and maybe dodging and burning to bring out the highlights/shadows even more.

There are plenty of iPhone camera apps that will upload your pics to somewhere like Flickr, then you can post the image link here. I don't know of any app that will let you upload images directly to this forum, if that's what you mean?

Thanks dave I hope u were able to see the image with the link :)
Mark, yes that's what I meant.. I will start doing that with my flickr account.

Though what u said makes a lot of sence, I still feel some filter is used for post processing. Also, u think the dodging n burning could be so detailed?
I don't like HDRing with portraits but I feel this image has gone through some of that too

The majority of 'pro' photographers tend not to use any particular 'filter' to produce their 'look' otherwise everyone could buy that filter and have the same 'look' to their images. Professional post processing on portraiture is normally done by hand with the standard tools in Photoshop, including dodge and burn. The dodge/burn tools are commonly used to create/enhance the kind of lighting effect you see in this image.

Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrFA07Nodyg It's a speeded up session of a portrait being retouched by a professional retoucher, including using dodge/burn to enhance the highlight/shadow tones of the skin. It's not something that can be replicated by a one-click filter.

Thanks mark, loved the video.. If only it was a bit slower!
Ozui, I downloaded the filter.. Will post something after use it
