Looking to get some gloves for my poor ole handies lol had a few hours out with camera yesterday and they nearly froze :bang: So can people give there views on which ones are best and recommend ?????

Proper gloves with just finger and thumb exposed

Or mitted gloves where all fingers and thumb are exposed in the open position

Go with what ever you are most comfortable with. Personally i have always used the gloves i have for clay pigeon shooting as they are nice and thin and have the 'trigger' finger exposed.

I just bought some fingerless knitted gloves cheap off the market, but i'd be interested to see what other people actually use too

Might also be worth looking as fishing gloves as the often have the finger than thumb exposed to knot tying

I'm looking for some good gloves too. Working at night it dropped to -11 here last night so I was feeling it! Il keep an eye out on suggestions!

Outdoor Research Mixalot
MacWet Climatec

I like these, not fingerless or mitts, but thin enough to feel through, yet wind resistant, relatively water resistant, and nice and warm. For -11 and the like I have a thicker pair to wear over the top, which are removed for the short periods where dexterity is required

Never got on with the fingerless/mitt types personally

Mixalot seems only to be available in the US shame as they look good

Not if you look on the EU site - maybe the UK distributor can get them, but looking at their prices compared to the States', an option might be Amazon.de

I got a fingerless pair that has a built in thumb cover (handy for back button focus) and a mitt section attached for the other fingers. Can basically turn them from mitt to fingerless just like that. I tend to wear the left as a mitt (can still rotate lens) and the right fingerless for controls.

Cost me £1 brand new from Barnardos!

dont have them on .de and wont let me order from .com lol

maybe il just go for something they have got instead lol

anyone tried the mechanix gloves? or the huge range of 'tactical' type gloves available? they seem to have large brand names available etc and are mostly genuinely designed for military use (or at least the high end stuff is) so must be fairly decent stuff?

I got a pair of north face e-tip gloves, really comfy easy to use camera controls and work well with touchscreen phones etc:cool:

Never thought about that, i have a set for working on the car and they are unbelievably good, you can even pick up small nuts and washers with the full fingered versions

Might have to give them a try next time i'm out and about

are they fairly good for fidly tactile sort of work? and what model are yours?

Mine are the Fast Fit ones

http://www.mechanix.com/automotive/fastfit-glove

And yes, very good for fiddly work, as said i could easily pick up M5 and M6 nuts off a table top, washers were a bit more fiddly but certainly not impossible, but that shouldn't be a problem for photography

If you do get some, make sure you get the right size as they are a well fitted glove, which is why they work so well i suppose

I actually have mine in the car at the moment and use them as driving gloves as they are so well fitted and grippy, especially nice on these cold mornings

I use Macwets when it's damp and when I need to take the chill off.... otherwise I wear Sealskinz contact ones... superb, very warm and great grip and dexterity. When it's baltic I use my ski mitts

Well I googled it, checked amazon.de and also google.de

Perhaps I just missed something, my deepest apologies sir!

Get yourself to Aldi and try a pair of neoprene fishing gloves with flip back thumb and index finger for a fiver, they're brill if you get a snug fit.

You did, the shopping page. ;)
At least now you've a head start, it's whether they'll entertain shipping outside the country, beyond those it shares its borders with.

I can't advertise on here otherwise i could tell you my site where you can by thermal fingerless gloves.

I just got a couple of pairs of cycling gloves. I pair are fully fingered and the other are fingerless. Both are very comfortable, warm and fairly cheap at around £6 each. They both have leather palm pieces which are very grippy too.

I went with a pair of Mechanix gloves in the end - the M-Pact 2 - mainly as i wanted the extra padding as i particularly feel the cold in my hands in cold weather.

Ive found them to be very comfy, and easy to use for jobs too fidly for others ive tried.

Only problem being i think i want them for work at my dayjob now so might need to buy a second pair and at £26 they arent exactly cheapo - saying that i think they seem well built and may be worth it - only time will tell

aka Sniper Mitts

I've got some "Rab" gloves that have the grippy contact patches on the fingers/palm. Can't remember how much they were but weren't too expensive. I got them in "Go Outdoors"

Any comfortable, not too thick gloves... then just cut off the very tips for dexterity when using the camera. Works for me :)

I use Barbour Neoprene Gloves, they do several types different prices lasted for over 10 years now. Not very warm, but waterproof and some models have a detachable thumb and trigger finger.

I use some called Thinsulate (not sure if that is the brand name or what though ...) they work really well in cold and very cold conditions.

Shooting gloves work pretty well. I've also got a pair of Berghaus gloves (thinsulate, wind and waterproof with a fleece liner) that I sometimes wear. They're not particularly warm but you could wear silk liners under them if you really need to, and I can work all the controls on the 30D quite easily. I haven't tried them with liners though, if it's that cold I'm not going anywhere to take photographs!
