Hi

I am after some decent gloves, thin enough so I can use my camera with ease, but warm enough.

And even better if they are from Amazon as I have a voucher to use :D

Many thanks for advice

Kind regards

Sarah

Many people swear by Lowepro's own gloves, about £20 last time I looked. Expensive but worth it :)

I've a set of these and would def recommend them. Nice and warm and the little grippy dots give you confidence when holding the camera.

Have a look in the Talk Sports bit, we've talked a lot about gloves. I got some good ones from Amazon, they're windproof, waterproof and thin enough to still use the dials. I've also got a pair of silk liner gloves to go under them from Jasmine Silk on Amazon. The cycling gloves I got are OuterEdge - I think that's the make. Search for posts against my name for gloves in Talk Sports and the link's in there.

i have a pair of Barbour shooting gloves - very handy in that index middle finger and thumbs have slits so can push fingers out.....

Whatever you buy get a pair of knitted fingerless gloves and wear over the top, works a treat

Thank you all. Has anyone tried the brands ice mountain or seal skinz?

Another vote for Lowepro gloves, I've used them for a couple of years now, you can opperate the controls fine and they keep you warm unless its exceptionally cold. My dear wife has knitted me some, emmm.... sort of over gloves, dont know what you call them really. They dont have fingers as such. If you imagine a sock thats been cut off at the closed end and a slot cut in for your thumb, so it looks like a tube, that sort of gives an idea. All I can say is they give full movement, are warm and comfortable on top of the Lowepro ones. Highly recommended

Had a pair of Sealskinz and was not all that impressed. The Sealskinz ad says "close fitting". They were, to the point where there was virtually no air layer between skin and fabric and that impaired insulation. Hands were rarely warm in them. Going up a size and the fingers were too long.
Possibly just don't suit my hand size.

Now resorted to taking a glove off to take a picture.

i have a pair of mountain equipment touch grip gloves that i love. Thin enough to feel the camera and to wear a thicker pair of gloves over the top and thick enough to keep my hands warm aslong as theyre warm and dry when you put the gloves on. Oh and really grippy

I had some sealskinz and as arclight said, theyre not very warm , I got them because theyre waterproof for dealing with the horses, wet haynets, muddy rugs etc and they are waterproof but found my hands were numb with cold.
I got some northface etip gloves £20 from amazon and theyre quite warm and still thin so good for handling phones/ cameras etc.

I got a pair of stealthgear photographers gloves for christmas and they are fantastic, double layered so you get grip on the fingertips and a nice air gap for insulation on the rest of your hand. the palms have rubber dots on for extra grip as well. unfortunately they arent on amazon though...

Problem with half the gloves now is using touch screen phones!.. And e-tips just aren't warm.

the stealthgears have small holes on the finger and thumb so you can use them, or push your fingers through them for more control of the camera

fishing gloves from Aldi when they have them. Neoprene, slits for index and thumb, £5
