Gloves?

Hi All,

Just wondering what gloves do most wear when shooting, have been looking for some for a while.

Obvious problem being that you cant control camera very weel with normal gloves - and with tough thick all weather ones they are too bulky, obvious answer is fold over fingers or mitts. however i cannot find any of a reasonable price or quality. (lowe alpine do a good mitt one but at £25 its pricey)

does anyone have a specific make or brand that are warm but windproof and good quality?

Lowepro make some photographers gloves, there were some for sale on here not long ago. Never used them myself so cannot give you a fair appraisal of them. I use Craghopper fleece gloves with fingerless gloves underneath, just whip the Craggs off and .............works for me!
 
I use Lowepro gloves, link, warm but with plenty of feel for the controls and buttons. Not cheap but worth it IMHO. Look around for offers though.
 
The North Face E-Tip for me...very very good for camera use :thumbs:

Excellent fit, grippy and toasty in winter and spring climates
 
I bought some zebco fishing gloves at the shooting show (different sort of shooting!) this weekend, very warm neoprene gloves which have the ability to fold back individual fingers so I can just keep my shooting finger free, £12 which seems to be a bargain as I always suffer with the cold.
 
+1 for North Face Etip. Can even use my iPhone with them on!
 
I was bought a pair of the Lowepro gloves as a present and they're great, the small grip dots provide plenty of grip (surprise surprise :lol:) but more importantly, confidence your not going to drop your camera :thumbs:
 
wow! excellent, i do suffer really bad with numb finders through the winter. i will be at focus next week so will keep an eye out for either :) seems the lowepro is most popular, are they thermal lined too or single? same with the north face ones...

I went into jessops the other day and apparently the lowerpro gloves have been discontinued but this is probably a lie.. :D
 
yer i some i have been using as fingerless but it is finger ends that get numb the fastest :) my shutter speed just has to compensate the shaking of the hands hahaha :)
 
I have Helly Hansen fleece mitts with slits to put fingers and thumbs through. Under these I wear a thin pair of silk gloves bought from Yeomans. These have kept my hands nice and warm during the recent cold weather and the silk gloves allow me to access the controls on the camera easily.
 
Latex gloves all the way - Sometimes a pair of motocross gloves over the top too. Toasty!
 
Personally I don't think the Lowepro gloves are as good as some of the more readily available ones by eg "outdoor designs" which have rubberised palms and inner fingers, which seem warmer and give better grip. ( I have tried both - and with gloves being gloves I'm using one of each at the moment....)

Have a look at your local Cotswold or equivalent to see what they have.
 
I use 661 Comp Gloves as I am on my bike a lot when out taking photos and these have great feel as they are not too thick and my shutter fingertip has a nice grippy bit on.

look exactly the same as a pair i got from seconds ahead for £1, have the grippy bits - think they were made by 3M
 
I use £6 Millets thinsulate specials, with grippy pads sewn on.
 
 
I'm going to vote for 'not the Snowbee shooting gloves' - they wore very badly and the stitching was terrible. I have some Garlands neoprene ones with the index finger cut-outs that are better. I found them a bit scratchy at first until I rubbed some hand-cream into the inside of them.

some cheap 'sniper' gloves from ebay
used them for airsofting etc and I used them for camera stuff outdoors and driving.
really light and handy
not known for their warmth though
so frankly I'd put on two pairs of surgical gloves on first and jobs a gooden!
 
I used to use a pair of very thin silk gloves - toasty as a toasty thing until I lost them. Now I just wear normal fleece ones and take them off when I need to. I've also tried using a pair of Gill sailing/cycling gloves but the palm padding's a bit thick for photography use (IMO).
 
Going to go-outdoors to see the North Face e-tip if you can operate the iPhone wearing them they will get my vote
 
dont think go outdoors do the etip now, don't think anywhere is to be honest i cant find them online at all...

some great tips guys, the weather would just happen to get better as i decide to sort the problem :)
 
Been looking for something similar. I've seen these, they were advertised in a photo mag a month or so back. Just need to get to my local store to actually try them though. Anyone else uesd them...?

Another vote for the lowepro gloves. I've had mine fora bout 4 years, used in all weathers. And were my everyday gloves all last winter. Still no signs of ware and tear. Well worth the expense.

I use Ogre Windstoppers golf gloves, I like the grip on them which gives me confidence when handling a camera. They're also useful for golf this time of year :)
