Gloves for photography?

Now it's getting colder, I'm looking for a good pair of gloves to use out and about with my camera.
Did a google search and one result was for a thread on here, but it was a few years old, and so most of the links didn't work anymore!
So, what i'm after is a pair of either fingerless gloves, not woolly, don't have to be waterproof, but offer good dexterity, and have some kind of grip on the palm and fingers. or a pair where you can remove the thumb and finger.
Saw this pair from lowe alpine would do, if i removed the mitten part (would get in way!), but they're a little pricey;

I use those gloves and think they're brilliant. Being windproof makes them so much warmer in my opinion. They are not cheap, but they live in my camera bag now.

That's a good point actually. I just remember seeing a hipster in New York with his Leica M6 and fingerless gloves and thought he looked well cool :D
 
If your quick they have been selling off some super ones in ALDI for £2.99 there grey with touch screen tips on the fingers ,I used mine last weekend when it turned cold and it was easy to operate the camera with them on

Glad I got several pairs from Aldi last year, they were only £1.99 then ;)

Also worth looking at when they have them, is their fishermans gloves, neoprene with rubber palms and fold back thumb and forefinger. Great when its wet and very warm, plus the rubber palm gives a very good grip. Think they were £2.99 aswell, but possibly more now.

As above aldi neoprene fishing gloves. Best I have ever had for use with camera. Wind proof, grips on palm, fold back thum and first finger ends.
 
Cotswold outdoor sell thin, rubber coated? Grippy gloves. Brilliant
 
I got bought a pair of Lower gloves, which I have been happy with, they also have little "sticky" dots all over the inside of the palm etc, so offering good grip...
 
I use footjoy (other brands are available) winter golf gloves (which are nothing like normal golf gloves) - they don't have open fingers but I can alter all the controls on the camera fine with them on
 
i have real trouble with gloves. i have very poor circulation (it would appear) and once it starts to turn cold get raynards syndrome symptoms - have yet to find a pair of gloves that keep my hands warm :-(

and wear liners underneath too, but still no real success. for shooting, i wear both (has good grip) and take the main ones off to adjust controls
 
Decathlon running gloves are fab - fleecy inside, thin enough to still use all controls and with grippy and reflective bits too. As an added bonus come in kids sizes, so those of us with tiny hands are sorted and for ridiculously cheap prices. Have taken mine to the arctic and antarctica and love them!
 
I have those lowe alpine mitts and would definitely vouch for them. I was out in the snow in them last winter and never once got cold hands. I found them to be ideal for photography and if you need waterproof then there are plenty of over gloves available to go over the top of them. Failing that i use some full finger sealskinz ones for cycling and would happily vouch for them too althoigh they are a bit too cumbersome for using with the camera.
 
Another vote for the lowe alpine mitts they have served me well for a few years now including for Iceland, and while paragliding in the Brecon Beacons in the winter. Having said that it's a real boost to their performance if you put a pair of silk gloves on underneath, it stop the finger tips going blue in the short time that you uncover them to alter the controls.
 
I use rubber coated gloves. I get them from my local arco work wear shop. I buy several packs at a time at £1.25 or so. I use them for car work, snapping, fishing and driving when it's cold. They're brilliant.
 
I was just going to post about gloves but spotted this thread.

I am going to Iceland in March and it's going to be pretty cold and I always struggle to keep my hands warm so a little concerned and I want to get some decent gloves for the trip as we'll be spending many hours out taking photos.

What do people recommend for photography in the very cold conditions (apart from staying in the pub) ?

A friend who works for a sausage company gave me a freebie pair of what I assume are some sort of freezer glove for retail staff. Very light weight, quick drying and have grips across the palm and fingers. Touch screens even work with them somehow?! Best pair of gloves I own, they've been shooting football in rain/snow and up mountains as a base layer glove under my more chunky pair.
