Yes
I brought a pair of work gloves that have the tips of the thumb and index finger removed, they are made for people that work outside but
have fiddly things to do, got to say they are fantastic for photography even when holding the camera you only use the tips of either the thumb or
index and you can do everything without taking your gloves off.
what do other people use when its freezing?

p.s. they only cost a tenner!

I realised yesterday when i was out in the freezing wind, waiting for a cheetah to turn around, just how much I need a pair of gloves!

Will be watching this to see what people recommend!

Ive not used these yet for photography, but have for fishing - well they are fishing gloves lol.

Fishing gloves from Argos

I should say its not those actual gloves I've got, but just a clone of them. The palm was quite grippy and the fold back fingers with velcro holds are pretty good.

Can see them being pretty effective for photography!

Where did you bring them from? :P

The only gloves I own are for driving with, metal gear nob isn't good in the mornings

A good pair of gloves is something I'm missing though.

Lowepro do gloves that I have been using for years now. They have rubber grippy bits on the palm and fingers.
Amazon stock them :)

May I suggest cycling gloves? I own a pair that I use, they are thin enough to be used with your camera but they aren't water proof.

Better than nothing!

Northface etip here too. Not cheap but it works with touch screen phones which is simply brilliant.

Yep, I use a pair of mtb gloves from Decathlon. They're cheap and surprisingly good.

I've got some fingerless neoprene gloves, great because they are waterproof. I started to wear them for work (I'm a florist with permanently cold hands) but have found they are great for when I'm out and about with the camera too.

You could also try shooting gloves. These have a trigger finger that flips to one side to enable guns to be fired safely. The same finger used for photography.

I got a pair of 100% silk gloves for Christmas after my mum, bless her, heard about my 13º exploits at Stonehenge.

Thrown away the packaging now but think it was these slinky little numbers: http://www.trekmates.co.uk/206/Trekmates-Silk-Glove.html

Thin as melba toast yet warm as, erm, regular toast. Not waterproof but very quick drying. Barely notice them when interfacing with camera, touchscreen and mousepad.

I use The North Face Pamir Windstoppers, really warm, nice and thick but with grip on the thumb, index finger and middle finger as well as a bit of the palm to keep a safe grip on cameras and phones, can still use phones but they aren't nimble gloves so I think an iphone would be out of bounds or any phone for typing, but for general photography in the winter I love them :)

Another place to shop might be your local shooting store. Many shooters use gloves that have the tip of the index finger exposed, or the ability to expose it, for fine trigger control. They often also have some sort of grippy material on the palms so that a gun/rifle can be held securely.

I use cut off gloves. Don't know what to call em. The ones where there are no fingertips

My wife got me a pair of these for Christmas, they're great for photography! They have the holes for thumb and index fingers and an amazing grip on them as well Only problem I've encountered is that they are not very breathable and my hands are roasting and soaking after being out waling with them taking photos for a few hours.

not sure why you'd want to pay more for gloves with fingers missing.
i saw some on tv for £23, so i just got an old pair of mine and cut off two fingers (gloves not mine) with some scissors.

I was thinking about this the other day as I'm going to Sweden next month.
I've no idea how good they are,but there are some for £23 in Argos called Matin glove/mittens,which have the mitten part which folds back leaving the normal glove which has neoprene on the fingers if I remember correctly?

e-tips here as well - used them over the cold moths mainly for my phone, will try them tomorrow. Thermally they are not the best but definatley help.
