After getting some good comments on some of my recent work with some little Japanese toy figures, i thought i'd buy myself a proper pose-able figure to see how much fun i could have

I know the first shot isn't the greatest photoshop in the world and the DOF a bit too shallow (still learning), but this was more just to get a feel for how this sort of shot would work, but i can see myself having lots of fun with these 2 guys :)

As always, comments and critique welcomed

EDIT: Image positions switched round

love that second shot! nice work. would like to see more of that style, would be a great subscribe.
I do like the first too, though I might have shown the second image as the first image, so it looked like a bit of a fight, then they're both knackered and sat down.

Deffo make a series :)

Nice one Carl, i'll switch the images round now actually, good idea

And yeah, i will certainly be having a lot of fun with these guys, hopefully i will get myself a book printed up when i have a fair few decent shots, but i like your idea making it a series with a subtle story behind it

love this set would love to get some figures and try this don't think they'd come out this good though

How Do you get them posed at such angles ?? Great work, as above I would love to try something like this

Not as difficult as it looks, they are actually supplied with stands that attach to their backs, so a simple shot with just the background and half an hour in photoshop is all it takes really

Thanks for the comments, i haven't had as much fun in ages as i have doing these :)

Love these! So different! Great way of showing DOF too :D

Thanks Hope , and yeah, he does look a bit like Bane with his mask on

What a great set....really like them.

Thanks for all the comments, i must be doing something right at least

I had another little play last night after receiving my Bokeh cut out kit at the weekend, that and getting my Xmas tree lights down from the loft a few months early, and this is the result

I got mine off of eBay, about £20 for the lot, loads of cut outs in the kit (most of which i probably won't use) and the holder too, but i figured i would get good use out it, especially with Xmas coming up ;)

This is the one i bought

And yeah, i think i will do a series of these, maybe try and make a story board up, but i'm not sure if i'm creative enough for that, and then eventually get a book printed up for my friends and family (easy birthday and Xmas presents )

the book idea is genius, might have to nick it lol and you seem to be creative enough by this set of gloomy. thanks for the link

Not my best work, i struggled a bit with the shadows, but i was still wanting to have a play with my Bokeh cut outs

Where did you get the little toy figures? My little girl is over my shoulder and her eyes lit up when she saw me looking at these great pics.

These are outstanding, how the hell do you guys find these wonderful poseable figures?

Thanks John, i was a bit a Japanese car geek, and got heavily into the JDM culture, that is how i first came across the Revoltech figures, they make all sorts of poseable figures, check them out

Excellent, cheers I'll take a look.

I had a ferret round eBay last night and found some like yours, but none so obviously adaptable with the two figures but I'll have a real look about - thanks again.

Love these.....brilliant.
Just been on evilBay to look at the figures. Tempted.

I saw that Halloween version, very cool - now I've started looking there are loads varying vastly in price! (My wife would no doubt love Hot Toys Jack Sparrow :))

Still trawling for a set as full of character as yours though (discounting Danbo and Wall-E as they're being done very well too) - I will find one though.

If you'd have told me you've taken pictures with a toy, I wouldn't have been interested, but these are really amazing! The lighting, pose, dof, and overall charm of these images has made me smile. Really well done! Would love to see more! :)

Hi, these are fantastic for the action ones do you just cut the stand out or are they dropped onto the background if you now what I mean. My PS skills are not that great.

Thanks, yeah it is a slightly odd subject matter, but if people are smiling then it's job done as far as i'm concerned :D

I have now had this thread moved to the themes forum, so will continue to add to this thread (thanks to whichever member of the mod team who moved it ;) )

Basically once i have got the shot i want with the stands in place, i switch the camera to manual mode and take one final shot, then remove the figures and stands and take a shot of just the background, then some fairly simple PSing and job done

Odd subject but so many possibilities, and so much fun! Your imagination is the limit! Will defiantly follow the page for updates :)

Haha these latest ones are brilliant, I know what my kids are getting for Christmas ! Lol
