Yes
Following on from the helpful advice I received a few weeks ago in another thread I'm virtually ready to take my 5d/24-70 with me to Glastonbury tomorrow, but I've hit a small snag in terms of equipment insurance.

My insurer (e&l) is not familiar with the lockups found at Glastonbury, and the only advice they can give me is that I'm covered so long as 'the lockers meet their requirements for security, ie protected by a 5 lever mortice deadlock'.

Can anyone advise me of what security the lockups have in place, or perhaps even better the name of an insurer who is sympathetic towards Glastonbury/festivals in general? As someone who works in risk management I just can't bring myself to take £4k of gear with no insurance :(

thanks a lot everyone

I've been trying to research the same but to no avail. Have you any experience of the lock-ups? I have gear that is also expensive and I'd cry if it was nicked/lost. I don't know what to expect of the lockers - it'd be devestating if my gear was stolen but disappointing if I couldn't take my gear. Tricky.

Bl**dy insurance companies! So many get out clauses you don't actually need insurance once you've complied.

Take it with you and if it's stolen, just tell them you accidentally dropped it in a river.

Unless they have changed the lock ups in the last few years they are not lock ups at all but more like a portable coat room with large shelves and in some mesh cages they are staffed 24hrs a day usually by volunteers and run by charities, you hand your stuff over and get a receipt.

Why not keep it with you? I wouldn't even think of extra insurance.
