Glass Upgrade - 70-200mm

You'll be OK with the minis and imps, but some of the bigger single seaters you'll have to angle the camera body in your hand to try and fit the car in on the diagonal.

I live only 10 mins from Fintray in Kintore, and weather permitting I should hopefully make at least one or two of the rounds (I've done my fair share of wet events :D). I wouldn't say the 2.8 focuses any quicker than my F4 did, but it does allow me to use a 1.4x convertor when 200mm isn't quite enough and still get reasonable performance in lower light.

I also have a 100-400 which is just about perfect for Alford in terms of focal lengths.

Just give me a shout if you see me there - I'm normally wearing an orange Knockhill media vest :D

Excellent shall try that, not sure if there are any more motorsport events left this year to try it out at. Kintore isn't far from me, I was in Inverurie but now in Aberdeen.

I'll certainly come across and say hello, maybe have a look at some of this kit of yours (inspire my next purchase )

Update: the lens has arrived but I can't open the box in work! NOOOOO!

All, just thought I'd post a quick update, that I have sourced a Canon 70-200mm F4 L (non IS) from the classifieds on here.

Now to convince the girlfriend that I've always had this pale grey lens in my camera bag.......

Thats probably part of the reason I haven't got any long "L" lenses :)

I was the same when my 70-200 F4 arrived at work a few years ago and couldn't wait for 5pm to come around. If you are looking for inspiration, I'll take along a 300mm f2.8 prime lens. Stunning image quality but weighs the same as a sack of potatoes (well it feels like that after a few hours use)!

There is a track day at Knockhill this Saturday (http://trackscotland.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6246) if you want some practice. I don't think there are any other photographers attending (I'm on decorating duty).

I may just open it quickly at lunch! Now that does sound like a proper lens! I'd love to have a look at one of them.

Sadly I acn't make this weekend but thatnks for the link, if you ever want to go to one of these events and want to split fuel costs - give us a shout :)
