Glass Question and Comment

Firstly...newby here, so hello to all and happy new year

Had a Sony A350 for 12 months and thanks to a work colleague (and site member), I've re-ignited my interest in DSLR and getting a much greater understanding of the technicalities

My question...looking at a Sony 70-400 (SAL-70400G) and can see a number on ebay from Hong Kong. Has anyone had real experience of HK sellers and their reliability or otherwise ?
Just need to sell the Sigma 70-300 APO DG if the Sony is to be purchased

And now for the comment...just purchased (for xmas) a 50mm 1.4 (SAL-50F14) and what an outstanding lens it is.....really bright and very very impressive...get's my vote.

Have you thought about the Sony 70-300 G lens - my father in law has just (yesterday) bought one from Jessops - cheapest we could find and he's over the moon with it. He tried the lens out a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed with it, focusing very fast and giving very sharp results.

Personally I have NEVER had a problem with buying off ebay from hong kong.Postage can be a little slow at times 2 maybe 3 weeks but it always arrives.

Trick with ebay is check their feedback for what they sell, I personally would not buy a lens from someone who just dabbles in everything, but if all they sell is camera equipment then fine, and also if they have 100% feedback too.

the 70-400 G SSM is even better than the 70-300 G - but larger, heavier & dearer.

I've used DigitalRev before for relatively expensive gear & they were fine.
