Amongst my Dad's belongings, we have found about 80 old glass photographic plates with images of Liverpool on them. Anyone have any idea how I can get the images printed? A few are cracked on the edges, but most seem ok.

Set them on a lightbox (or against a good light source) and photograph them then print them yourself?

I don't have a clue what a lightbox is........unless its like an Xray viewing box, but lying on its back instead of on a wall? Any idea where I'd get one from?

Does anyone think they might be worth just giving to a museum....either one in Liverpool as that's where all the images are of, or else a photographic museum? It seems a shame to have them just lurking in my study. I certainly can't process them ......anyone here want to try?

Yep it's one of those.

You can get a "similar" effect by using pure white tissue paper on a window when the sun is shining through it and suspending the image infront of it.

How about putting them up against a window (not direct sunlight) ...make sure the views a long way off, add a shallow dof to make sure... should work just like a light box ...nearly. :D

I'd volunteer but 80 of then... nah way  .... You'll have to do it, you do own the copyright now after all. ;) :D

Edit, doh, Paul beat me too it. ;)

Try the Maritime Museum - they have an archive of old Liverpool pics and may well be glad for more. They would certainly know what to do with the glass plates
