Glass.photo: users thread

In Glass I have 2 image options
Option 1 is 4 images all the same size of the Toyota
Option 2 is one bigger image and 3 smaller images bottom left like cards stacked on each other
That's the only way that I can see.

Unfortunately, this doesn't look right.

Everyone else's embedded pictures from Glass are a) larger, and b) clickable to open the image in a viewer. Your embedded picture does nothing when clicked.

Is there some obvious point in the instructions where you become unsure about what you should do?

It's probably worthwhile getting it sorted here before trying in other places.

It would seem it's opening fine for @gramps so not sure why it won't open for me. Other pictures are opening fine. However, it seems that this is a problem my end and the picture is fine. Sorry :-(

I'm not entirely sure I know what you mean about the picture sizes you are viewing on Glass, but I think the size of the picture once it's pasted in TP depends on the size of the file you uploaded to Glass, not the size you are viewing it at. But hopefully someone with more experience with Glass can answer that.

I gave up and canceled Glass free trial :(

Ah well, Glass isn't for everyone, and it's a shame we couldn't get to the bottom of what you were doing wrong (if anything in the end).

For posting to eBay I suspect Flikr might be a better place as it seems more geared up for storing and posting photographs, whereas Glass seems to be more focussed as place for people to display and share their best photographs some of which they occasionally want to embed in a forum post.

:plus1: to that, its far two fiddly for me to be bothered with.
Yes, as I suggested, at the moment, it doesn't seem the ideal option if you primarily want it as a tool for embedding photographs in forums or social media.

Has anyone got a discount code for glass, finally ready to give it a proper trial.
When I go o this page, I get a pop up (after a few second, or so) offering a 25% discount

just a test

Looks fine, but I have lost my ability to click on the image and open it in a viewer. Not just with this one, but with earlier posts as weel, including my own.

I noticed this before but @gramps was still able to open them, even if I can't. This is on a Mac and Chrome. I will try another browser.

EDIT: won't work in Safari either

I've noticed this too. Doesn't bother me, as long as the embedding works. I wonder if they've removed it to differentiate from Flickr?

I wonder, if this is a Glass thing or a local system thing. Are you on a Mac?

It opens in a TP(?) viewer and if I click the zoom icon I can enlarge it. (iMac).

How weird, I wonder why it's not working for me or @skullfunkerry

The last time this was discussed, I could still open my own files in the TP (?) viewer, but now, even my own files won't open in a viewer.

Did you become a member, I can’t remember?

Actually, what Gramps is saying is how it's working for me on my iPhone. Didn't it used to take you to the image on Glass itself though?

I have no idea, mate :ROFLMAO:

Another test... Different method, and same result.

I'm not sure, it used to take you to "a" viewer, which I had assumed was a Glass viewer in the same way if you click on a Flikr embedded picture, you get taken to flikr. But I don't know how these things work, especially as the process of adding a picture from Glass to a post isn't the same as it is with Flikr.

Flickr is a link back to the photo on Flickr, whereas Glass is embedded in TP IIRC. Therefore it will only be displayed from within TP rather than going ‘off-site’ - I think!

On my iMac:-

Just embedded & click to see in TP viewer.

That's what I thought as well, and if that’s' correct, it suggest the issue is how our local browser is interacting with the TP stored images.

or how TP chooses to store such images, i.e. storage requirements.

What version of MacOS do you have. I'm on 15.6.1 here on my laptop and a slightly more up to date version of 15 on my desktop

If this post means you have confirmed it's an issue with the TP viewer, rather than something to do with Glass, maybe we can get some help from TP.

As it used to work, but no longer works on either of my Mac, and using Chrome or Safari doesn't make any difference, it suggests an OS related change or a TP software change.

Sequoia 15.7.4
TBH I would hold off making any TP improvement requests for the moment. ;)

I'm assuming you have a good reason for suggesting not asking for help from TP.

I think this is a bit of a mistake on Glass`s front, and if like flickr you link back, people can browse around and possible join up.

I'm not sure Glass have thought this far ahead, as you get the impression the focus is on building a "Glass" community and not a place to store photographs linked to other places.

But I agree with the potential for encouraging new members, if there was a link back,

Not sure it helps but on my iPad if I click on the photo it opens in a viewer but on my MacBook Pro it doesn't (insert shoulder shrug here)

This suggests it is a browser issue to me.

FWIW I can 'open' the image of children above on my android phone, so it is 'only' an embedded image.

I wonder if they actually want much external activity, rather preferring to keep to an 'enclosed' community.
Bandwidth cost for a small enterprise (compared with Flickr) would maybe play a part in deciding.
