Glass on white background

I'm trying to get a very clean white background whilst photographing clear glass Problem is ... whatever I do I seem to get shadows, uneven lighting! What I'm trying to capture is the dark edge of the glass! Should I be totally blowing out, over exposing the white background to keep it clean
