I bought a box of camera stuff at a car boot sale, in the bottom were 4 boxes of glass negatives

One box has been exposed but nothing exciting , looks like they were practicing by taking pictures of ornaments and watches

However 3 of the boxes are still sealed in light proof packaging

I'm guessing these must be pretty rare being new so was wondering if I could retire on the profits :D

Failing that is anyone likely to still be using them and what would they be worth if anything

I know someone who may want these..... give me a few mins.

Gordon@Convergent AV on AVF, Ive sent him a PM with your thread.

Unless they have been cold stored, they are 99% useless. The glass substrate could be re-coated but as they are they won't be worth much.
Someone with a plate camera could use them if they are still in a usable state though

I'm gordon from convergent on another forum and i do wet plate photography. These are dry plates...i would head to facebook and look for collodion groups and ask there if anyone is interested.

Ok thanks

I'll probably just stick them on eBay with an accurate description as I don't do Facebook

I can't comment on the state of the plates, because there's no real information (such as size or maker), but I would point out that glass plates were made well into this century (i.e. post 2000) so they could be relatively new.

These are definitely old , there were negatives with them dated 1939

Thanks for that, much appreciated

Hi Darren,

I saw Gordons post over on the UK wet plate FB page. I'd be interested in the plates if they are still available.

All the best,
Tony

I still have them but I have absolutely no idea what they're worth

I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them up
