Was wondering if it is still possible to buy a GT3540LS or have they been renewed with something else. Ive found the GT3541LS was wondering if this would do for my 40D and 600L (my 190prob legs are just not stable enough)

Or if someone has a second hand set of GT3540LS the don't need

I think Kerso may still stock them. Bought a GT3540XLS from him last summer.

May be worth a PM :)

Neil,

I use a G3540XLS for my 600/4. The 3541 srs is the replacement for the 3540 srs and has a slightly modified lock. Gitzo's spec states that they're good for 500mm lenses but I find it okay.

I'm not sure how tall you are but I'd recommend going for the XLS version, not just the LS. The XLS is taller (can be useful occasionally) but the bonus is that you can achieve the same height without using the last set of leg extensions (the thinnest ones) and hence maintain a little more stability.

Thanks bob im only 6ft 2inches small and that sounds like a good idea :D

I'm 6'1 and find it comfortable with the last section still stowed. It'll go just over 6'6 all out (7' with the Gimbal on it) and it's then useful for treetop budgies or moon shots.

Im 6'2" and also use a Gitzo 3540XLS. Fully extended it's huge, but the extra flexibility of being able to extend it so much is worth the extra imo. In an emergency it can double up as a tipi frame!
