I currently use a Gitzo G1348 tripod that I had with my view camera. I now use it for my Canon 5D, but I would like to find a carbon fiber tripod to fit a carry on bag for flying. Gitzo use to make the G1228 that folded down to 21" and had a 16lb. camera weight capacity. They no longer make this tripod. Does anyone have a suggestion for a tripod that will fit a 22" carry on bag? Thanks, John

Putting a tripod in your carry-on will be a problem, especially if it has spikes. It might be seen as a weapon and you'll probably be told it has to go in the hold instead.

I have a 3540LS which measures 55cm in old money that is 21.7in, pretty sure the later versions 3541LS and 3542LS are about the same size closed
