It dpesnt NEED a centre column, but one is available. There is a thread on the top plate to attach the head.

Most people will use without a column. So tempted but I already own a 5 series Gitzo and have said its the single biggest improvement I have had from a photography product. If your looking for a fantastic tripod which will last then this is a no brainer.

Yes, I've also got a Billingham 555 on order from WEX. But in my defence I've sold some stuff so my camera escapades are 'cost neutral'.

Mine should be delivered today but I'm hoping my Really Right Stuff BH-55 will be good for it.
