My girlfriend has decided she wants a small compact digital camera for Xmas and as I've only used an SLR for 5-6 years I'm out of touch with compacts.

Can anyone suggest a compact digital camera for around £100 that is easy to use and relatively small but is good in an indoor environment?

Thanks.

The IXUS 80 IS is about £115 at the moment and is a very nice little camera :) I have an IXUS 75 and can only imagine how much better it would be with a bit of IS and some of the other toys they have thrown into it. Not the best for high ISO stuff mind!

Thanks Jimmy. I saw the Ixus as I'm a Canon man myself. Anything half decent that's little bit cheaper? :)

I also like the ixus 80 and it has its own battery not those silly AA's like a lot of the cheaper ones have.

I'd imagine any of the Canon compacts would do the job, just pick a nice-looking (cheap) one ;)

Samsung L100 from Tesco, i got one recently and have been impressed by it. £65!

I loved my Canon IXUS 75 untill it went through the wassing machine (grr), so would definatly reccomend one of them or a IXUS 80 which is only £110 from amazon at the moment.

ixus is my fave but I bought a fuji for 100 quid which the g'f likes last feb for her birthday
decent reviews
internel lens for a lack of bashing
and patronising menu options....she's pretty happy with it.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. As I'm a Canon man myself I ended up splashing out on the Ixus 80 so hpefully the girlfriend may actually get some keepers using the built in IS.
