Giotto's MTL9351 B Tripod + MH5011 Three Way Head Kit £80 inc. delivery

Mine arrived this morning however getting a replacement as the horizontal tilt lock thread was mullered and would not screw tight. Is this a weak point???

I ordered one at 69.95 and there were 4 left last night, thanks for the heads up op. I have been looking out for a decent tripod price for a while. I was contemplating the manfrotto 190prob + head for 100 in this section, but I'm way too impatient to wait 1-3 months :)

sent the damaged one back via online collect plus (painless!!) and received the new fully working one this morning at 8am, well chuffed!!

How did you manage to send yours back with replacement? Mine has turned up with a broken head (it has snapped on one of the rotational points) and all I get is the option for a refund. I am very disappointed right now.

I went throught to the orders section, clicked return items, selected as damaged, then it automatically came up with the option of being sent out a replacement and as long as I returned the damaged one back within 30 days I would not be charged anything.

Mine was delivered within 48 hours of ordering and I'm well impressed with it. All I need to do now is decide whether to buy the bag for it or the carrying strap.

Any suggestions?

Did you manage to get a replacement sorted?

No, both Amazon and the seller are saying send back for a refund and that is it. I am going to try a last ditch attempt to see if I can contact Giotto directly and see if they will replace it under warranty as a defective item. There is no damage to anything else, not the box or the unit. If that doesn't work then it is going back :(

EDIT: Just an update to say that I have had excellent service and help from Giotto direct who have inspected the head and are sending me a replacement unit directly

Wow that is good service considering it looks like transit damage rather than a defect!

Ordered! I have been looking for a new tripod for a while now and was looking at the Manfrotto 055XPROB but was put off by the fact that the pivoting centre column only locks at horizontal. Couldn't resist this price!

Turned up yesterday, brand new box with the head in it. I rang the nice lady there to say thank you for her help. I am really impressed with Giotto / Dayment Int who sorted me out :)

Showing back @ £75 today

Received mine today, so far very happy. For £75 this was an absolute bargin and miles better than my last cheap (20 year old) tripod :p.

I have just got this too. The tripod itself is pretty good and the head is only "OK". The issue I have with it is that with my 5DMk3 and 24-105 lens in portrait mode, the camera slips on the quick release shoe and starts pointing down. The issue is really down to the rubber on the quick release plate that screws in to the body of the camera - it's doesn't grip well enough. My previous cheapo tripod which cost me less than a tenner holds the camera without any problems in portrait. Fortunately, it also fits the Giotto head so I will probably end up using that. I've also experimented with using a bit of non-slip matting between the camera body and plate and that helps a little bit, but there is still a little movement.

I googled this and it does seem to be quite a common problem.

Interesting - have you seen the update by Amazon?
