Hi i just downloaded gimp and well although it looks less confusing than photoshop and more useful than elements im a bit stuck.

Does anyone have a pdf or word doc of keyboard commands and how tos?

would save me a lot of time looking through the on line help so thought i would ask.

Any tips welcome

Which magazine just rated GIMP one of the three best buys for camera software. Since it's free, that must make it a better buy. Which tested version 2.3, you can now download version 2.4.5

Why not give it a go? You've only got disk space to lose

It's a bitmap editor, not unlike Photoshop, but it also doesn't have many features Photoshop does (it figures, doesn't it). There's no 16-bit per channel support, colour spaces other than RGB are either emulated or not there, some layer operations aren't there (adjustment layers, etc.), I'm not sure how proofing works these days but it doesn't seem to have changed much since when it was quirky at best.

That said, it's a very good and nice home photo editor with plenty of features for those who do not require that which I have mentioned above in what features it lack compared to Photoshop.

I use the GIMP whenever I edit my photos after converting them from raws.
There should be a link to a few tuts in my sig (no voice cover, though).
I should have some time to write them up into tutorials on my site this summer, but not just yet.

I should have lead a GIMP workshop this Monday at the uni (which I should be finishing on the 9th of June this year... *sigh*), but the professors had to hold a meeting, so it's been postponed. Oh well.

And I hate exams :-P.

Good luck with the exams, shame those workshops arnt a bit closer so i could attend.

I guess you'll have to wait until I write those tutorials down... or until I get a decent working mic (and not of the Trust brand, I'd say).

I'm off to get some rest and a bit of TV and then it's back to learning. :p
