What version are you gimp users using?
I'm on 2.6 and just wondering if this is the best version to deal with 12bit raw images taken through UFraw (0.15).

Any views?

Also what plug ins do you find really useful?

Cheers gimpers

Gimp 2.6 for me too.

As for plug-ins, I've been lazy at keeping track. I have several which I think are not supplied by default:

some sharpening ones (Smart Sharpen and LAB sharpen).
one which makes contact sheets.
the rules of third script which displays a grid in the rules-of-third over the picture.

Have also dabbled with writing scripts, but gimp's scripting is not too easy, although I did manage to write what I wanted (one to sharpen and save the file in different sizes of jpeg).

I wasted a whole year using Gimp with UFraw, i now use Photoshop Elements 8, the difference is amazing because i now shoot RAW all the time as Gimp made me use Jpeg.
UFraw makes your RAW look very unnatural on screen and there's nothing you can do to produce a decent image is what i found.
If you post any images from UFraw i'd like to see them here, ta.

I initially used gimp with UFraw, but now use gimp with Raw Therapee (it had more features than UFraw and I think it produced better results).

Gimp doesn't force you to use jpegs. If you like UFraw and install the UFRaw plugin for gimp, when you open a RAW file (from within gimp), then gimp will open the file in UFRAW first - this is similar to Photoshop Elements which will open the RAW file in Adobe Camera Raw.

As I use Raw Therapee, I open my RAW files in RT and save the result as TIFF files, then open these TIFF files from gimp.

Unatural in what way? I've never really had a problem to be honest. Have been using the ufraw as an add on to gimp so it opens all raws through ufraw then in to gimp

I'm currently using 2.6: 2.7 wouldn't compile and I was too lazy to hunt down the libraries :)
Beside, I'm getting GIMP 2.6 for Photographers for xmas!
As for plugins, g'mic plugins are quite extensive. http://gmic.sourceforge.net/gimp.shtml
